The Great Lakes Grand Banks Association

The Great Lakes Grand Banks Association (GLGBA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting fellowship, safe and enjoyable boating, and an appreciation for Grand Banks yachts.

The Association is organized as a nonprofit corporation under Chapter 181 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Its purposes include providing opportunities for pleasure and recreational boating and carrying out other nonprofit activities consistent with its mission. No part of the organization's net earnings shall inure to the benefit of any member.

Our Goals

  • Build community by creating opportunities for social interaction among owners, prospective owners, and others who appreciate boats bearing the Grand Banks name.
  • Promote safe and enjoyable boating by encouraging members to expand their boating knowledge and skills.
  • Encourage environmentally responsible boating and respect for the waters in which we cruise.
  • Keep members connected by providing opportunities to communicate and share information about recreational boating.
  • Promote pride of ownership in the Grand Banks brand and the boating lifestyle it represents.

How We Pursue Our Goals

These goals are supported through a variety of events, communications, and activities, including rendezvous, newsletters, email communications, social gatherings, online forums, our website, and other activities endorsed by the membership.

About Our Dues

Annual membership dues are $50.00 per year and are renewable each December. The renewal process is completed through our website, and announcements will be sent when the renewal period opens.

The $50 annual membership fee includes membership for two individuals: the Primary Member and a Secondary Member, such as a spouse or partner. The Secondary Member must be added under the Primary Member's account.

Each member is entitled to vote on matters such as the Giving Back Program and may participate in surveys conducted from time to time. Voting is tracked by email address. If two members share the same email address, only one vote can be recorded. Therefore, each member must have a separate email address on file in order to vote individually.

New Members

People who join the organization after June 1 of any year are automatically enrolled for the following membership year at no additional charge.

New members will also receive a GLGBA Burgee at no charge.

GLGBA DEMOGRAPHICS

Our members hail from all corners of the Great Lakes and beyond. Some members have moved to coastal areas but continue their GLGBA memberships to stay connected to freshwater cruising and the friends they have made through the organization. Most of our members own Grand Banks yachts, while a few enjoy other lovely cruising yachts. And, of course, some members are temporarily “between boats.”

The map below provides a look at the geographic distribution of our members’ homes.
